The Mallyan Spout Hotel

We spent four nights in Goathland at the Mallyan Spout Hotel. On arrival, the friendly staff helped carry our luggage up to our top floor room. There are lots of public spaces to relax, plus a welcoming bar, good food and great service. It's a perfect base for exploring the countryside and Yorkshire Moors, and a great spot for Heartbeat fans too. I'd definitely recommend it.

We came away feeling rested after walking to the waterfall and on to Beck Hole once we'd checked in. The welcome was warm, and our room was lovely. Staff in both the bar and restaurant were friendly, and dinner was delicious. We ate in the spacious, quiet front lounge, where we could choose from several menus. The courses arrived at just the right pace, with no rush and no long waits. Breakfast the next morning was excellent too. We'll be back, thank you.

That first mulled wine of the season was perfect, and the meal was absolutely delicious. We were welcomed warmly, the service stayed excellent throughout, and there was a lovely atmosphere with great attention to detail. A relaxed, enjoyable place for dinner, highly recommended.

That special pint of Theakston Poltergeist dark beer was terrific. I booked dinner for my birthday and chose the Sunday roast. The pork came in thick, juicy slices with crackling, and the several vegetables alongside it were all delicious. Absolutely scrumptious.
