Our room had loads of character, with different levels, squeaky floors, beams, and low ceilings. I especially liked the Witches daisy wheel etched into the staircase. We’d booked one night at The Talbot Inn, and on arrival they offered us a £20 upgrade to the older part of the inn. We took it straight away. The shower was unusual and went hot and cold while we used it, but that was a minor issue. Staff were lovely and attentive, even greeting us as we came down the stairs in the morning. I’d definitely recommend the Talbot Inn.

The food was fantastic and the staff were lovely. The bedrooms could do with an update and freshening up, as they’re a bit dated, but overall we were very comfortable. The location’s nice, and there’s parking onsite, though it costs £10 for the day.

The location was lovely and the food was good, but I wouldn’t stay here again or recommend it. I booked a long weekend for Valentine’s weekend 2026 through a third-party website. The hotel quickly contacted me to confirm the booking, but didn’t mention that parking would cost £10 per day, even though I was staying there. They also have electric charging, but it costs £12.50 per hour for only 9kwh. We upgraded our room, but I’m not sure what the upgrade was. Disappointed is an understatement.

The staff are great and really helpful, and it’s a fabulous place with a lot of history. The old building needs a spruce-up, though. It’s looking tired, with worn carpets, dim room lighting, old bathroom sealant, and poor repairs to leaks. Brighter lights and new carpets would help. I don’t like the parking fee. Guests should have it included in the room price, as it used to be free. This place could feel like a 4/5 star stay again. Many thanks to the staff, though.

The staff were kind and the service was great, but the food really blew me away. Everything we ate was delicious, especially the beef French toast. We ordered it three times before leaving. Next-level good. Staying here was a wonderful experience, and I highly recommend the place.
