Wheatlands Lodge

The free parking and breakfast each morning made the stay easy, and the food was exceptional. We spent a couple of nights here. Reception were very friendly when we arrived, and our room was lovely, with clean, fresh towels. There’s a lovely walk into York from the hotel. I’d definitely recommend it.

The Christmas decorations in the many shared areas were stunning, and the Laurel and Hardy themed bar had a lovely, quirky atmosphere throughout the day. Staff were so welcoming and gave us a free cuppa when we arrived. The hotel is conveniently placed, about a 20-minute stroll or a short bus ride into York centre. Our room was fairly basic but very clean and well equipped, with comfortable beds. There’s no lift, and the stairs are steep and narrow, so anyone with mobility issues should ask the hotel if they can meet their needs. We didn’t know about the dinner deal, so can’t comment on the evening meal, but breakfast was delicious with lots of choice. We had a great stay and are looking forward to coming again next year 😁

The lady at reception even came outside to show me where to park. The spaces are tight and limited, which could frustrate some people. From the start, all the staff were friendly and efficient, especially the male owner. I loved the Laurel & Hardy themed lounge and bar. The room was spacious and clean, and so was the rest of this fabulous building. Breakfast was lovely too. I’d definitely come back.

We stayed in late November 2025 and had a fab time. The waiting staff were polite and helpful, and nothing seemed to be a bother. Dinner and breakfast were excellent, and the bar prices were very reasonable. The rooms were small but cosy and serviced daily. York was within walking distance. We’ll recommend the hotel to family and friends, and hopefully visit again in the future. Well done to all the staff.
