After a rough 13-hour workday, the sign saying “welcome to the end of the day” gave me a real sense of peace. I also appreciated that they honored the do not disturb sign. I usually don't tip at hotels because many ignore it, but I left the staff a crisp 20 for my three-night stay. The room was perfectly adequate and service was pleasant. It's a quiet area with plenty of food and shops nearby, and the entry garden is beautifully kept with lots of flowers. It felt like a restful, safe home while I was working away. I'll return if work brings me to Alexandria again.

This is my new place to stop overnight on my annual drive to Minnesota. The location is convenient, with businesses nearby, and the hotel was very clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. Thanks to Heidi for arranging my reservation just six hours before I arrived, and for a wonderful stay. Best hotel I've stopped at in years.

A decent, pleasant place to pull off the road in a pinch. It's a typical Midwestern bourgeois hotel, clean and nice, with standard hotel breakfast and even a guest laundry room. The manager was cordial and accommodating, though she seemed maybe a little nervous when I arrived in street clothes with my belongings in plastic bags, or maybe I was projecting. She initially wanted to charge a $50.00 early registration fee, then let it slide at the last minute, citing “company 'policy'.” The location is a freezing-cold cluster of strip malls and gas stations just off I-94, a couple miles from downtown Alexandria, MN, which I've been told is nice.

The room was very clean, with four pillows, plenty of towels and washcloths, and a bed with just the right firmness for someone having back surgery the next morning. The adjustable air conditioner and heater let you choose your sleeping temperature. There was a small fridge, microwave, and coffeemaker with cups and everything needed for coffee. The shower had good pressure and full pump bottles of Dove shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. The staff were friendly and professional. I was too tired to try the pool, though it looked good through the window. My friend who drove me for surgery had only good things to say about the free breakfast. I couldn't eat it myself because of the surgery, but she doesn't lie or exaggerate, and she would have said if it wasn't good.
