Skyline Motel

Skyline is a clean, comfortable basic motel that costs a reasonable amount. We were glad to avoid those exorbitant prices. I’d suggest adding room-darkening curtains or blinds, and maybe a hairdryer. There’s a Perkins up the road for breakfast. We were very pleased and would recommend it.

We needed just one bed, but the last room available had two, so the clerk charged us the one-bed rate. That was good service. We arrived at 9:30 on a Saturday night in summer, after deciding at the last minute to stop in Alexandria on our road trip. I’d expected less for under $100, and from the outside it looked like an ordinary cheap motel. Inside, the room was spacious, very clean, and smoke-free, which is rare in a motel. There was a table and two chairs, the bed was super comfortable, and the small bathroom seemed recently updated with a tile shower and granite counter. I’d recommend the place and would stay again if I’m in the area.

I’d stay here again in a heartbeat. The rooms were spotless and really comfortable, and I especially liked the rocking chair. The two women running the hotel seem just as meticulous about cleaning as my very particular Indian friend. The bathrooms are small but nice, with granite counters. There was a microwave and refrigerator, but no coffee machine or cups. I also liked having outside entrances, so I didn’t need to go through a lobby given the COVID situation. From the outside, it looks old and a bit out of the way, but the price is hard to beat and it was far better than I expected.

I’ve stayed at Skyline four times, including once for three weeks, even though I live in Australia. The rooms were comfortable and clean, and staff were very nice and helped however they could. Housekeeping was offered every day. The bathrooms could use some updates, but they’re serviceable. It’s been four years since my last visit, and I’d stay again if I get the chance. The location is good, close to shops and restaurants.
