La Quinta Inn Springfield East

I stayed twice and found it a clean, comfortable place with good value. The lobby has been remodeled, while the rooms were fine as they were and are due for updates soon. As with most La Quinta properties, dogs are welcome at no extra charge, which worked well for me. We saw dogs coming and going but never heard barking. Once the room remodel is finished, I’d give it 4-1/2 stars.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, and both the room and pool were nice. After a long drive, the pool was refreshing, and the beds were comfortable and a decent size. We didn’t ask for extra pillows even though there weren’t enough, so that’s on us, but definitely ask if you need more. Breakfast could use healthier choices, such as hard-boiled eggs, Greek yogurt, peanut butter and jelly, or smoothies. I’d recommend the hotel and give it four stars, with five for the staff.

The bed was comfortable, the room was clean, and the staff were friendly. Breakfast was good, with a nice mix of hot and cold options. There were a few minor annoyances: the room smelled funky at first, so we opened the window to air it out; it was smaller than other LaQuintas in the same price range; the closet had no door to keep pets or babies out; and the showerhead sprayed water all over, leaving a mess on the floor.

We picked this hotel because we were traveling with a dog, and pets stay free at LQ. Reviews made it sound like the renovation had just wrapped up, but only the lobby and common areas seemed recently updated. Our room was dated, though it looked clean. The mattress didn’t seem especially comfortable when I first checked it, but I slept well and woke up refreshed, which doesn’t always happen.
