Sleep Inn Springfield West

Breakfast had plenty to choose from: eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, toast, yogurt, waffles, coffee, juice, fruit, oatmeal, and two cereals. The area and the other guests were quiet, so I slept well. I stayed one night while traveling north from the south, and the location felt safe, with nearby businesses and good lighting. For the price, it worked well. My room was clean and nicely decorated. The shower door didn't seal properly, so water got onto the floor. I told the staff in case they hadn't noticed and could fix it. I'd stay here again.

For two of my three nights, I had to listen to a group of unsupervised FFA kids above me, using their room for what sounded like MMA matches. They started as soon as they arrived and kept going into the evening. I reported the noise to the front desk several times and was told they'd handle it, but it continued. I said they needed to do something or I would. The desk brushed it off as kids being kids. The adults responsible for the minors were nowhere to be found. How are minors allowed to be left alone in a hotel room? Don't stay here.

The bed was comfortable, and the location is surrounded by popular restaurant chains and shopping. We took a chance because the rate was cheap and the rating was excellent, but maybe that rating fits a cheap motel. It's the smallest room we've ever had, with a broken desk drawer hanging down and a tiny bathroom that looked only partly clean. Then at breakfast, I saw a staff member blow crumbs off a used table with his mouth. He never wiped it with disinfectant. It made me question how clean the place really is.

The guy at the front counter was kind, considering what was going on. For the price, the hotel is decent enough, and a lot of places at the same rate are much worse. My room was fairly clean, not spotless, but I was fine walking around barefoot. My gripe is the incidental deposit: they only accept a card, not cash. I wasn't ready for that, so I spent half an hour driving around town and stopping at three places to try to put cash into my Chime account, with no luck. Eventually I thought to call a friend. I wish hotels made the card-only rule clear when booking, so guests can be ready at check-in instead of running around when all they want is to relax.
