Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Springfield North

The breakfast setup was awful: the only “hot food” was prepackaged sausage sandwiches in a warmer, the bread display containers were smeared with what looked like butter, and there were no options for food sensitivities. The room and bathroom were dirty too. Grout looked grimy, the soap tray had crusted soap chunks hidden by a makeup-removing cloth, and the counters and table had old coffee rings and felt sticky. Dust and dirt lined the room's edges, and every side of the stained ottoman was too gross to touch. The ice machine was broken, so we had to go to another floor. Getting to the room was unpleasant as well: the elevator button was missing and the elevator was filthy, while the heavy door squeaked badly with our luggage. We were very disappointed. This didn't compare at all with the superb Marriott we had just stayed at in Houston for four days. That place honored the Marriott name and exceeded expectations. I don't usually complain, but this was unacceptable.

This is probably the nicest Fairfield we've stayed in. The rooms, lobby, hallways, breakfast area, and parking lot were all exceptionally clean. We stay at Hampton Inns and Fairfield Inns often, and clean halls and parking lots are a big sign to me that a hotel is well kept.

I accidentally left an electronic device behind, and the team kept it safe for a month until I could get back through Springfield to pick it up. They even offered to ship it if that was easier. The hotel is modern, nice, and clean, and the customer service from this fantastic team was top notch. Thanks for going above and beyond!

Everything looked new or remodeled, and I heard the people upstairs a little from my second-floor room, but it wasn't bad. Nice place, and I'd stay again.
