The Anaheim Hotel

The low price and very short walk to the Disneyland Resort entrance make this a convenient, budget-friendly base. Our room was generally clean and comfortable enough for sleeping. The internet, though, was a major letdown. We paid for the “high-speed” upgrade that was supposed to be 50 Mbps, but it barely helped with basic browsing and streaming still didn’t work. Families with kids using iPads should plan ahead: use cellular data or a personal hotspot, and download videos at home. There were other upkeep and service issues too. The shower and tub drained very slowly, the tile grout needed a deep clean, and the carpets looked ready to be refreshed or replaced. Housekeeping came to our room only once during the whole stay. Stay to save money and be near the parks, but don’t rely on the WiFi for work or entertainment.

The location and price are hard to beat, about a 5-minute walk from Disneyland’s entrance and 10 minutes to downtown Disney. I loved the grounds and mid-century modern look, and the service was fantastic. It felt secure, with entry to the property only through the lobby, and the beds were very comfortable. The bathrooms need renovation, though, and the walls and doors are thin. You can easily hear people in the hallways, kids playing in the courtyard, and guests upstairs. Oddly, there’s no microwave in the room, but there is one in the gift shop. I’d stay again for the location and price.

The grounds are beautifully landscaped, and there’s a great pool plus an on-site lounge and restaurant with friendly, fun staff. The hotel’s vibe is amazing. We usually come for easy park access, but this time we stayed just to rest and enjoy the property. Leslie at the front desk is always awesome and went above and beyond to help us this visit. The location is unbeatable for going to the parks.

The staff are what keep us coming back. They greet us with smiles, handle things well, and make an effort to get to know us and our group so they can take care of what we need. We visit Anaheim several times a year and always stay at the Anaheim. It’s become a home away from home, and the people feel like family. Even in the middle of city bustle, the grounds stay remarkably quiet. The welcoming lobby has a relaxing mid-century feel and makes you want to hang out. There’s space outdoors to unwind, and the pool and facilities have what you need to round out a stay. We’ll be back often.
