The area is still a work in progress after the hurricane, so it was nice to see the hotel recovering. Our room was spacious and clean, but the shampoo and conditioner were empty when we arrived and never got refilled. I was also disappointed that the kitchenette had no stove. Breakfast got crowded, with too little seating and the food station needing more space.
The lobby was really cold and could use more heat. I also wish they wouldn’t put guests close together when there are plenty of empty rooms. People would rather not hear other guests and their kids carrying on. I manage Airbnbs myself, so this seems obvious to me. At $184 a night, it felt expensive for what the hotel offers. Breakfast was okay, and I liked the waffle maker and the orange juice, which tasted great. The butter, though, was hard as a rock and should be left out to soften.
The hotel was clean, the rooms felt modern and comfortable, and the staff were very friendly. Breakfast was decent and had a good variety to start the day. There’s still visible flood damage around the area, but it didn’t take away from my stay. I had a great time here and would consider staying again.
The orange curtains were handy for separating the pull-out bed where my daughter slept, especially with cartoons playing until 11 pm. Our room was clean, modern, and roomy, with a fairly complete kitchen area, though there’s no stove or bathtub. The complimentary breakfast bar was above average, with make-your-own egg sandwiches, juice, sausage, yogurt, and the usual choices. The hotel is in Biltmore Village, one of Asheville’s lowest-lying areas and, it seems, one of the hardest hit by Helene. The hotel starts on the second floor now, and the destroyed pool looks like it’s being repaired. Most nearby businesses are still gutted and badly in need of rebuilding. The hotel itself is nice and reasonably priced, though I can imagine it costing more in a year or so.
Our family of five had plenty of room, and the mattresses were excellent. The dark blinds helped me sleep later than I have in years. Service was great too. The flood damaged buildings and boarded up shops around the hotel, about a year after the flood, made it feel a little creepy outside at night. The breakfast bar also fell short of what I’ve had at other hotels. Hot food was kept in a clear cabinet with biscuits and bread, but the only meat I saw was sliced ham, and there were no eggs. The yogurt dispenser was empty.
