Hermosa Hotel

The location is great, but the room felt so unsettling that I worried people were trying to get in. The walls are paper-thin, and I could hear my neighbor watching SpongeBob and Family Guy. I found a cockroach in the bathroom and another bug in the shower, and there was no hot water. They pointed me to a public shower, but its faucet didn't work and it was fully open to the outdoors, so anyone could walk in. I had to rate everything a one because of all this. Read the other reviews and you'll understand why I'm so angry that management seems to be doing nothing. This is the worst hotel I've ever stayed in, worse than a third-world country. They should lose their license.

The staff were really nice, but the room was a problem. There was no hot running water, a hole in the shower wall, and water-damaged walls that felt soft. I woke up every morning with puffy eyes and sinus congestion, even though I wasn't sick and usually don't react much to mold, so I can only assume the room was moldy. Strong chemical fragrance covered the smell, which I suspect was there to mask it. I wouldn't stay again unless they renovated to fix the damaged walls, the missing shower caulk, and whatever plumbing issue left them without hot water all weekend.

The room was a little small, but it was neat, and the staff were helpful. We had a great three-night stay. The hotel is centrally located, about 10 minutes from the Casinon and 10 minutes from Lover's cove, and the lobby coffee was really good.

If mobility is an issue, be aware there are no ramps or elevators. I also found the bathroom window leaking onto the only towels, and there was nowhere free to plug things in because the mini fridge and microwave took the outlets. The hair dryer had what looked like lube smeared all over it. In winter the shower barely works, with freezing water, though the bathroom sink runs like lava. The sheets had stains and pube hairs, and the room reeked of bleach so badly it burned my boyfriend's eyes during our three-night stay. The listing said there was heating, but we only found a wall AC, and I wasn't sure it even worked. It was badly moldy inside, and I'm almost sure a bird had nested in or around it because we heard tapping on the unit from outside every morning. The fan above the bed looked like it hadn't been cleaned in ages. For the price, I guess you get what you pay for, but this was still gross.
