The meals were a big part of the appeal: breakfast came in sweet or savory options, and there was afternoon tea with snacks, baked goods, and drinks too. I liked being able to eat right outside our door instead of hunting for somewhere each morning. It’s also within walking distance of downtown Bar Harbor and Acadia, and we had a great time riding e-bikes on the carriage roads. The historic house is lovely inside and out. It has updated furnishings that make it cozy, though the old home character matters when setting expectations for the rooms. Ours was a little drafty, but the heaters worked well, and there were doors to close off the sunroom and curtains to help us sleep in. I was hesitant about a B&B, but it was better than I imagined. The staff were lovely, and I’d recommend it and come back. Breakfast was delicious, with dishes like stuffed blueberry French toast, banana foster pancakes, Nantucket pie, egg casseroles, fruit, and meat.

The people working here were so kind, helpful, and accommodating, and Cleftstone made our time in Acadia and Bar Harbor really special. Breakfast was just right each day, with coffee and homemade treats available through the afternoon. The B&B has been freshly renovated but still has plenty of rustic charm. Our room was gorgeous and clean, and the whole cozy building is cared for down to the details, in a great spot right outside the entrace to Acadia.

This was my first B&B stay and my first visit to Bar Harbor, and I was blown away by Cleftstone Inn. Breakfast kept us going through several-mile hikes, and the staff were kind and friendly without hovering. The rooms were beautifully decorated. I’d recommend it to anyone wanting a quiet, relaxing escape.

We liked the homemade pastries in the afternoon, along with the candy and fruit set out each day. The breakfasts were less consistent: the waffles were good, but the egg dishes came out a little dry. Our room was small but lovely and well appointed, and the bed was comfortable. The staff were friendly and knew the area, with someone always available for questions. We added an extra night, and they handled the room change smoothly. I’d recommend this lovely place.

The bed was so comfortable you could stay in it all day, and the gourmet breakfast was delicious, with snacks available throughout the day too. The host and breakfast waitstaff gave us exceptional service. My wife kept saying this was THE best part of her Maine trip.
