Comfort Suites, Baton Rouge

The room looked clean at first, but the walls were dirty and the bed's box spring was visibly soiled. The shower curtain was too short, leaving the floor drenched after each shower, though we did have plenty of towels. The elevator near our room was out of order, and most of the stairs were corroded and crumbling. They need to fix them ASAP before someone ends up with a lawsuit. The hotel is near the mall, and the area seemed nice. It has potential, but you can tell the work isn't being done to improve it. For the price, this Comfort Suites was just okay and needs major updates. If the owners don't take time to do that, we think it could close within three years.

The little kitchen area was a nice perk for the price, and the ground crew were very nice. The water pressure was the only other good thing. Everything else was a disappointment, even for a cheap stay. The rooms were dated and needed a proper cleaning, with patched walls, peeling paint, nasty old windows that leaked, and curtains that let the outside lights shine into the room. Breakfast was just random stuff tossed in bins. By the steps there were cockroaches, and outside people's used towels were left around their rooms. The door looked like it had been broken into several times, with the lock ripped out. The breakfast area floor was coming apart, and all they did was put up a caution sign. At the pool, plugged-in lights were floating around. It didn't open until 10, then they shocked it and we still had to wait another 20 minutes. We also had to walk all over to find an ice maker that worked.

No. I couldn't bring myself to sleep on the spring sofa bed. Its thin cushion barely covered the mattress, and I could feel every spring. It took until our second day to get the Wi-Fi working, and the information about it was misleading. Please don't stay here.

Two words: bed bugs. We checked in and immediately saw them crawling across the comforter and sheets. It was a bad enough infestation that we didn't even have to search. The rooms looked updated, but clearly the mattresses hadn't been replaced. This place needs fumigation right away. The lobby air conditioning was out too. Check-in staff quickly apologized and refunded us, which was the only good part. Management doesn't seem to be taking this seriously, since many reviews over the past several months have mentioned bed bugs.
