OYO Hotel Baton Rouge - Mead Rd

The building looked abandoned, with weeds grown all over it. We booked through Expedia, then spent hours fighting to get a refund because the hotel DOES NOT EXIST!!! OYO was impossible to reach too, since its automated system kept hanging up on us. VERY disappointed in both companies. I’d leave 0 stars if I could.

The one good thing about staying here was that there were no bed bugs. I’ve been in plenty of 2-star motels that were much better, and even Motel 6 seemed like a palace by comparison. I’m sorry to leave one star, but I can’t think of anything else positive. At check-in, the person was video chatting on her phone and kept doing it through the whole process. When we switched on the lights, about 10-12 roaches scattered, and we wouldn’t walk barefoot on the floor. The refrigerator was unplugged, and some outlets didn’t work, including the ones in the dressing area. There were holes in the walls and areas with no paint. We didn’t feel comfortable using the shower. Both beds were fold-up bunk beds rather than regular motel beds. There’s more I could say, but the pictures I took help show what I mean.

There was a big gap under the door, and bugs were getting into the room through it. The mattress had mold and cigarette burns all over it, with more burns on the sink, bathtub, and wall by the toilet. I wasn’t expecting a perfect room, just one that was reasonably clean. I should’ve read the reviews before booking. I was disgusted and disappointed, and would give zero stars if I could.

We slept well, and the room was very clean for a great price. Still, we learned to ask more questions next time. We thought Wyndham was a good choice, but reservations mean nothing here, so get the room insurance. The location is Baton Rouge at Meade. We’ve been laughing at ourselves with friends over the king-size bed base we requested and the queen mattress on top. We kept banging our shins on it, and the two pillows were flatter than any I’ve had. The shower sprayed water onto the ceiling and everything else. There was no trash can, iron, ironing board, microwave, refrigerator, or phone. We had a quarter roll of tissue and two soaps, but no towels, so we bought them from Dollar General. Towels are apparently delivered around 8 pm, so don’t plan on going to a gathering before 10 pm. Check-in took at least 30 minutes. We got a “no” when we asked the kid working there about breakfast, so we don’t know if it’s offered. We also saw two kids who weren’t even teens cleaning rooms and bringing towels. I’m sure this is a franchise, but I’m disappointed with Wyndham.
