Hampton Inn & Suites Bay City

The breakfast wasn't huge, but it had a few unusual options, including strawberry waffle batter. I didn't have time to try the pool, so can't comment on it. The location is great, with Culvers and Meijers grocery right across the street for families and travel supplies. It was clean, the staff were friendly, and I'd definitely stay again.

Christina really made our stay. Our family was coming in for a wedding, and she arranged for all our rooms to be together. When we arrived, she couldn't find our reservation, but she kept checking and eventually located it. The mix-up came from the other booking site we used, not the hotel. Christina is a real asset. The hotel was very clean, and all the staff were friendly and willing to help.

The lobby was okay, but the room wasn't. It was dark because there was no light over the desk. The tub had new caulking, but it didn't cover the brown grime in the shower area, and bathroom tile grout was broken or missing. I put food in the fridge, but it was room temperature the next morning. I won't stay here again.

There was a giant hole in the second-floor ceiling by the ice machine, and that machine was broken, so we had to use one on another floor. The front desk also didn't answer calls from the room phone. The worst part was our room door. It wouldn't lock, and a light push opened it without a key card. It looked as if someone had kicked it in and it had never been repaired. Thank goodness we noticed before going to bed or leaving. When I told the desk, they moved us to a room with one bed and a pullout sofa instead of the two queens I'd booked for my family. The sofa bed was uncomfortable, nobody brought pillows for it, and the fridge in that room was broken, too. I asked for the manager three times, but James was never available. They told me to email him and maybe he'd respond. The front desk didn't seem to care, and management didn't either. My family and I won't be back.
