Eastern Inn

For what you pay, it’s not bad at all. The hallways do have an odd smell, but my room was clean and the bathroom was really nice.

We checked in on 10/18/2025, got a key, and went back out to the car for our things. The side doors were propped open or hadn’t been shut properly, so anyone could come and go. The hall on the way to our room reeked of Marijuana, and we found hair between the sheets on one bed. Later, a lady of the evening brought someone in through one of those open doors. We went to Wal-mart for what we needed, but when we returned to the Eastern Inn it was dark and late, and the doors were still open. We didn’t feel safe staying there, so we collected our things, returned the key to the attendant, and told him we were leaving.

The room and bed were clean, but the stay wasn’t worth the money. We arrived after 8 PM and left at 5 AM. I’d told them our arrival time when booking, yet we waited 20 minutes for someone to show up for check-in, and that person wasn’t friendly. There wasn’t a single ice cube in the machine. They advertise vending machines, but I was told to go to the gas station for soda. The halls and room smelled strongly of old food, perhaps from the run-down restaurant next door. Room service and breakfast are advertised too, but they seemed to be at another location. The hallways and rooms are very old and dated. They don’t offer a AAA discount, and now I see why. From the outside, the inn looks old and not updated, but the owners were friendly, helpful, and treated us with real care. Inside, my room was surprisingly clean. The bathroom had clearly been updated, with very hot water and a shower head that worked. The outlets were secure and worked, which is a big plus, and the refrigerator and AC worked too. The smell was the one thing I didn’t love. I couldn’t tell if it was air freshener or musty rugs, maybe from being so close to the water. I was glad they had a room available, and the location suited me. I grew up around there and used the rotary all the time, though it could be tricky to get into on weekends if you don’t know the area. It wasn’t bad, and it’s a safe, quiet, clean place to stay.
