Quality Inn Buffalo

The manager seemed nice, and the place was quiet. The rooms looked surface clean, and it worked as somewhere to lay our heads for the night. But the beds seemed like they needed replacing, sinking into the middle and feeling super uncomfortable. We didn’t stay for breakfast.

The front desk person was very nice and helpful, and the coffee was good. The rest was rough. This is a very old motel, and the rooms weren’t nice at all. The carpet was filthy, there was a whole herd of flies in the room, and the sheets and covers were stained. The mattress felt like a pile of rocks. We barely slept and kept our travel clothes on because of the stained bedding. Breakfast was waffles, one-inch poppy seed muffins, cereal, stale items, and peanut butter.

The room was just okay. The fridge didn’t work, though the room was surface clean, and the hotel’s exterior area looked sadly neglected. We didn’t bother checking out breakfast before leaving. On arrival there was only a handwritten note at reception telling us to call a number. We didn’t have a US number, so couldn’t call. After going away for dinner and coming back, we found a bell to ring for attention. It took several rings, and we were tempted to leave for somewhere else before someone finally came. He was pleasant enough and checked us in.

I had no problems in my king room. It was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the TV worked fine. The lobby was well kept, and the receptionist was really nice, making genuinely funny jokes about long road trips. It was about as good as other Choice Hotels I’ve stayed at, and I’m not sure where the one-star horror stories come from. You get what you pay for, though. The hallways and exterior aren’t the nicest. I think some people expect a fancy hotel, get a pretty ordinary cheap one, and are upset by that.
