Days Inn by Wyndham Canton

The location is great, the rooms are clean, and the beds are comfortable. There’s a microwave and mini fridge in the room, too. During storm Fern, I also had a much-needed good experience with an agent who was professional and took extra time to look through specific options until she found exactly what I wanted. I’d recommend this place.

There’s no breakfast, and the small pool didn’t look clean, though with the weather going back and forth I could understand taking a break from maintaining it. Parking is more plentiful by the entrance and lobby than at the back, so carpooling might help if it’s busy. The front desk woman was friendly and shared a few unusual guest stories, but they didn’t put us off staying. The building is old, though it’s been remodeled and is about as updated as it can be. The room was mostly clean, and the prices were pretty decent. On the downside, the AC barely worked. We opened the windows since it was cool at night and bought a fan. The shower curtain could’ve been replaced and washed more thoroughly, the tall shelf by the TV had some corner damage but felt sturdy, and the lamp near the bathroom didn’t work. I couldn’t find a good way to check whether it was plugged in. I’d come back if I needed a hotel in Canton. Prices on Valentines Day didn’t go up much, while a nearby hotel wanted at least $25 more per night. The motel-style options around Canton aren’t especially great, so choices are limited.

The evening desk host was wonderful, got us checked in quickly, and was really nice and outgoing. The pool was clean, and there wasn’t much highway noise overnight. The basic cleanliness wasn’t terrible, so it did the job for a night while we were traveling from New Mexico to Georgia and needed a few hours’ rest. I supervise housekeeping for another hotel chain, so I knew not to expect a five-star stay. There were quite a few problems: the ice machine didn’t work, two light bulbs were out, and the room was scorching when we arrived because the AC was off. It did cool the room, but condensation leaked onto the floor. The sheets, shower curtain, and walls had stains. The vanity area was ridiculously dark, the bathroom fan was loud, and the tub filled with water and wouldn’t drain. My husband showered first, so I couldn’t shower. In the morning there was no breakfast setup, just coffee, and no desk host, only a key drop box and a sign asking guests to rate the hotel on Google.

We booked online and found that there were no adjoining rooms, despite the listing saying there were. It also advertised breakfast, but there wasn’t any. The place has outside access, and the toilet seat was broken and child-sized. The bathroom door didn’t flush. The shower curtain was too small for the curved rod, so water leaked out. It rained that weekend and water came into our room under the front door. There was no one at the desk to complain to, just a sign saying they’d be back in ten minutes, along with another guest. It looks like renovations began and were left unfinished, both outside and in the bathrooms.
