Capitola Beach Suites

The view is lovely, but the rooms didn't live up to the price. We stayed three nights and the sheets weren't changed. There was a bathroom note saying they'd charge $10.00 if makeup stained a white washcloth and didn't come out. I've never spent $10.00 on a washcloth. The elevator is rust-covered, and the bathroom hand mirror was rusty too. At $339.00 a night, I expected more.

Room 4, 2021. We come back to Capitola Beach Suites every September for my birthday. It's our favorite, and we've stayed here at least 10 times over the years.

ROOM 5: That balcony was a perfect place to listen to the waves, and the staff were friendly. The anniversary getaway was just what we wanted, with a clean facility and an easy walk to the shops, restaurants, bars, and beach. From the end of the parking area, there's access to a quieter, less crowded beach, and we could walk along the water to the main beach by the restaurants. We never needed to drive; for trips beyond downtown, we rented electric bikes. The bathroom sink was a little small and tucked into an awkward corner, though the bathroom still seemed nicely remodeled and clean. Being beside the street and stop signs got a bit annoying with cars speeding past or accelerating away. Those weren't deal breakers. It was an amazing experience, a great location that didn't break the bank, and we'd happily stay again.

Once we got inside, the room made much better use of its space than it looked like it would from outside. We had a great view of the water and surrounding area, with patio doors across one side and a balcony with a table and two chairs. The room was nicely updated, with granite-looking counters, and the kitchenette had everything for a meal. The bed was so comfortable, I haven't slept that well in ages. There's also a shared area overlooking the water with a gas fireplace. Parking was the one drawback. We were in room 8, which didn't have a dedicated spot, and apparently two rooms don't. It can be hard to find a space during the day, though there are spots around the hotel. We got lucky when one opened up right nearby, then left the car parked for our whole stay. They provide a pass for approved spots, so parking there is free. Capitola is a beautiful little town, and this is a great place for a relaxing visit.
