We had a comfortable, lovely three-night stay and hope to book again soon. Our one-bedroom townhome behind the historic Edmondston-Alston house was cozy, and the kitchen was packed with what we needed for tea, coffee, and basic cooking. Innkeeper Julie made some amazing breakfast treats, including individual egg quiches and freshly baked muffins. So glad we found this place. Thanks, Julie!

Julie made the stay especially memorable. She was welcoming, kind, and accommodating, dropping off a delicious homemade breakfast every morning and taking such care to make guests feel special. The carriage house was spacious and gorgeous, with lots of charm. Walking through the wrought iron gates felt like stepping back in time. Inside, everything was spotless and thoughtfully designed. I loved reading and relaxing on the second floor with one of the books from the in-house collection. The property is a beautiful piece of Charleston history, comfortable and relaxing as well as full of character. It’s within walking distance of Rainbow Row, Waterfront Park, and the shopping and dining on Broad Street. I’d recommend staying here over a hotel if you’re looking for a truly relaxing visit. 10/10 stars.

The house is packed with history, and the accommodations were wonderful. My wife, our two daughters, and I stayed for three days this past weekend and loved it. Julie’s fresh-baked breakfast goods were amazing, and the location made it easy to enjoy everything Charleston has to offer. A spectacular stay.

We had to cancel our reservation while still within the full-refund cancellation period, and we received an email confirming the refund. When it didn’t arrive, we followed up and were told to contact our credit card company. We disputed the charge, and the card company resolved it in our favor, so we did get the full refund. It shouldn’t have taken a dispute to get it. For clarification, my wife Laura made the reservation and received the refund email from Julie Lucas on 10/17/25.

We’re disappointed with the innkeeper’s service during our wedding weekend at the venue. Julie never came to greet us, welcome us, or say goodbye at checkout. She walked by without acknowledging us when we tried to speak with her. The E.A. house deserves five stars for its location and rooms, and Julie had it spotless for our arrival and wedding weekend, but it was sad to feel she wasn’t friendly at such a lovely place. When we asked about ordering food from the menu online, she said she couldn’t make it for us without explaining why. We were confused, but handled it. Earlier reviews spoke much more warmly of Juliet, and we also saw her welcome the guests after us with open arms. I believe she was upset about the wedding taking place at the house. We left by 10 p.m. and left the place spotless at Sunday checkout. I hope she can do better, or they find someone who wants to greet guests, especially brides celebrating their big day. We’re grateful to Steve and the other Middleton Foundation volunteers for staying to help us pull off the wedding. He was a joy. We need more steves at the E.A. House.
