Fulton Lane Inn

The rooms at Fulton Lane Inn were spacious, clean, and comfortable, and having continental breakfast delivered to our room at the time we chose was a lovely perk. The historic character of the Inn gives it a charming, almost another-century feel. Step outside and you're right in Charleston's historic district, close on foot to major historic sites, shops, and restaurants. I'd gladly return and recommend it to anyone looking for a convenient, authentic Charleston stay.

We had to extend our stay because of the winter storm, and the team really helped us out, even offering tea and help with reservations. Everyone we met was kind, professional, flexible, and so helpful. The pastries are worth getting, and the breakfast was very good. I also loved the coffee, probably the best hotel coffee I've had. The rates were reasonable, and the spot just off King Street made it easy to visit the Market. We'll stay again next time we're in Charleston.

The one-bedroom suite was large, and breakfast delivered to the room was enjoyable. The rates are a good value for the big rooms and prime location, though the properties feel like tired B&Bs. Our bed was too firm and noisy, the pillows were all the same and too thick, and the AC wouldn't go below 68, so the room felt warm even when it was cold outside. Wine hour was just OK, with too few tables and people hoarding the crackers and cheese. The wine was fair, but we ended up going to prettier lobby bars at other hotels. The staff were friendly and helpful, but nobody warned us that construction was starting in the parking lot they'd recently sold to the city. It began yesterday and woke us at 7:50 a.m. Ask for a room on the King Street side. The nearby garage elevator was broken when we checked in, and the old lot was barricaded. Google Maps sent us to King St, where there was nowhere to stop and unload bags. Getting them down five flights of stairs was a horrible experience.

It's easy to walk just about anywhere from Fulton Lane Inn, and the room was nice, with a big bathroom and a very small kitchen tucked between it and the bedroom. Breakfast was good, and they usually call to say it's on the way, often bringing it early. They didn't seem to have looked into the kitchen area, though. There can also be some street noise.
