Quality Inn Charleston South

The staff we met were friendly, and after a long day driving through a rainstorm, the room did what we needed. Still, if we’d had another option, we wouldn’t stay again. We were in the farthest left building, perhaps room 3206. There was hair by the toilet that wasn’t ours and smears of handprints on the windows. The mini split was moldy and made both adults and both kids feel sick. We tried calling the desk once, but the phone didn’t work. We were told on the phone that the beds were two queens, but they were actually two full-size beds. For $97, I guess it is what it is. If you can, stay at the red roof inn up the road. We’ve stayed there before and it was much better.

We had a large, spacious room in block 1, room 1109, with a comfortable bed, and it was clean. We stayed one night and had a great room. The hotel is a bit out of town, but having a car made that fine. The area seemed quiet and we had no problems. Breakfast had a good selection and was well stocked.

The bed was very firm, which I liked, and the pillows were comfortable. The room was sort of nice, and the night was quiet. We checked out at 6 am, before breakfast, and I wouldn’t stay again, though it was fine for one night. We bought the room while driving home to Canada. The neighborhood didn’t look great when we arrived, but it was too late to change plans. Check-in at 11 pm went fairly smoothly, though it took longer than at other hotels. After using the bathroom, I washed my hands and discovered the sink was leaking badly. Water poured onto the floor and made a huge mess to clean up. Our room was 3108. How did housekeeping clean it without running the sink once? The hotel smelled of stale cigarette smoke.

The room and shared areas were very clean, and the staff were friendly and professional. We only needed somewhere to sleep after a long day of driving. The hotel feels a bit dated, and the neighborhood looked lower income, but it was fine for the price. No complaints.
