Comfort Inn Fort Mill Amusement Park at Carowinds Blvd

We could see the park from here, and I’d definitely stay again. The breakfast was great, and both the water pressure and shower were just right. We checked beneath the mattresses with a light and found no bugs; the beds and rooms were clean and nice. The floor could’ve been swept a bit better, but that was the only issue we noticed. One of the nicest motels we’ve stayed in.

The beds were disappointing: every time I rolled over, the springs popped and groaned. Our room was cramped but okay. The hotel is right by the amusement park, which was closed during our off-season visit. It wasn’t very busy then, though I imagine summer is packed. We’d stayed at a Comfort Inn in Wilmington and came in with high expectations. This hotel had a musty, smoky smell, although the room smelled a little cleaner.

Maria was lovely at check-in, even though I made the process difficult. She stayed patient and kind, then sorted out the problem quickly. The rooms are clean, and everyone on staff has been nice. The location works perfectly for our trip, and breakfast was delicious. I’d recommend it to friends and family.

I checked in Friday, May 1, 2026, and the stay was fine until breakfast this morning. A man was taking food into the breakfast area with his big Lassie dog. I asked the front desk why dogs were allowed around food. The employee called the manager, who said they weren’t allowed there, then spoke to the breakfast preparer. I assume she was letting her know, but she didn’t say anything to the man. When I asked him about bringing the dog in, he said he understood I was upset, but there was no sign saying pets weren’t allowed in the breakfast area. I told him he could have asked at the desk, as he had when checking whether animals could stay at the hotel. I couldn’t eat there after that and had to go pick up breakfast for us while he took two plates to his room, probably to feed himself and his huge dog. Does everyone think it’s okay if there’s no sign? Comfort Inn allows dogs in the hotel, but I hadn’t seen any until breakfast. Hotels should put up visible signs and post the rule online. Thanks to that guy for ruining my breakfast and day while he had a hot meal in his warm room.
