Homewood Suites by Hilton Charlotte North-Univ Research

The lake near my parents’ room was peaceful, and I really like the hotel’s area and setup. Their first room had a stove with no working burners, and the next one had no phone. The third room was nice, though housekeeping left them with only a comforter and no bedsheets. The manager kindly sorted out all the problems.

The rooms were a good size and the location was convenient. Some housekeeping staff were lazy, though I had two good housekeepers during my stay, and the breakfast staff was lazy too. I was overcharged and didn’t get my bill by email until I called to ask, which is when I noticed the extra charge. It wasn’t all bad, and I’d stay there again.

The only thing I didn’t like was the breakfast. Otherwise, the room had loads of space and felt like an apartment, with a separate kitchen, living area, bathroom, and bedroom. The TVs were nice and large, and the bed was surprisingly comfortable. There’s also a lake on the property, and they’re very pet friendly. I highly recommend the place.

For what I paid, this was disappointing. I travel for work all the time and stay in all kinds of places, but I wouldn’t recommend this one. The room had plenty of space, but the phone didn’t work and I couldn’t get the TV to turn on. I know how to use technology, so it wasn’t user error. At check-in, no one explained how to get on the WiFi. When I called the front desk from my cell to ask, the woman was rude and curt, and sounded bothered by the question. Also, every morning I came down for breakfast, the coffee was gone.
