UNC Charlotte Marriott Hotel & Conference Center

The room was nice and clean, and the food was great. I was here for a conference, and the conference room worked well enough for our attendees. It was easy to get to, too. We had some power outages, but the staff took care of us with great customer service.

The room was clean, the sheets were fresh, and hygiene seemed fine. That was the one good part of the stay. We paid a fairly high rate, but there was no breakfast or hotel parking. We had to use the public lot in front, and got charged each time we left and came back, even for a quick food pickup or trip around the area. Service was frustrating. The reception staff were rude, and for our queen room they said check-in wasn't until 4:00 PM, which is awfully late for a one-night stay. Housekeeping started knocking at 8:00 AM to ask if we were checking out and whether they could clean, then did it again at 9:00 and woke us twice. It seemed like they didn't have a correct list of rooms that had checked out. We arrived late and asked for a late checkout. At first the desk said only chess tournament guests could get one. When we explained we were there for the tournament, they changed the story and said it was first come, first served. That inconsistency and attitude were really aggravating. Go somewhere else.

We spent four days and three nights at the Marriott for my retirement event, with friends and family visiting from all over the country. The hotel is on the beautiful campus of UNC Charlotte. The staff kept checking that we were comfortable and made sure our needs were met throughout the stay. The receptionist put our guests on the 5th floor, and some of us were able to upgrade our rooms. Parking was easy: guests could park free on the 3rd floor of the deck across from the hotel, then walk straight over the catwalk. I highly recommend this Marriott.

Snowed in for the weekend, and bartender D'nea at the marriott's restaurant the golden owl made it so enjoyable. She was thoughtful, had a great personality, and was lovely to interact with. I'll definitely stop by again for that great service!
