Sleep Inn Chattanooga Hamilton Place

The room was infested with roaches. I turned on the light and saw around half a dozen scatter across the nightstand. The hotel as a whole could use a facelift, which I can understand from wear and tear, but the bugs were the deal breaker. I’ll never stay here again.

The housekeeping staff are great, and the rooms are clean with cozy beds. Front desk service was poor to mediocre at best, though. I’m in town for work and only find out day to day whether the job will continue, so I rent one night at a time. After the third night, I was rudely told I couldn’t rent another night because this wasn’t an extended stay. So rude!

We left early after I got some sleep, gave up the money, and booked another hotel downtown. Sleep Inn is usually pretty good, but this one was awful. Room 203 was the dirtiest hotel room I’ve ever stayed in: the carpet seemed like a biohazard, the shower was dingy and gross, and the air conditioning smelled terribly musty. The mattresses were badly stained, the pillows were yellow even through the thin cases, and under the sheet the comforter had blood and other yellow stains. There was also a broken outlet by the bed. We didn’t bother with breakfast. There were no bugs, and we were able to check in at 5am for a $40 fee. The area seemed pretty sketchy to me; apparently East Chattanooga is the worse part of town. I was surprised by the reviews close to four stars, then noticed some reviewers had the manager’s last name. When I called ahead to book for that same night with a 5am check-in, the front desk person wouldn’t reserve a room. I offered to pay in advance, but he said a walk-in would still have to be accommodated despite my deposit and paid room. I don’t understand how that makes sense.

We stayed one night. The toilet was dirty and there wasn’t any extra toilet paper. Breakfast was just okay, and the stay was just okay too.
