Springhill Suites by Marriott Cheraw

The room was clean, spacious, and pretty good. The hotel felt safe, the location was fine, and it seemed new. There were two downsides: some people think it's cool to smoke pot in the elevator, and don't count on a warm breakfast, even though they put out warm plates for the food. That's my honest review. Have a great day!!!

The front desk service was great, and I'd love to give it five stars for that. But the hotel doesn't allow weapons on the property, which means, as I see it, we're not allowed to protect ourselves while staying there. In good faith, I and others in my company can't recommend this hotel because of those safety concerns.

The rooms were beautiful, especially the showers, and the price was very decent. This was better value than the Holiday Inn and Suites where we recently stayed in Richmond, VA. It was only about a 20-minute detour from my route, with a nice, quiet drive through the backwoods country to get there. I'd definitely recommend it. Just know there's a train nearby, so it may not suit you if that would disturb your sleep.

I hadn't had any issues during the three years I'd stayed here, and we came from South New Jersey with flights and car rentals for this July 10, 2025 trip. My grandson and I had reservations. I checked in around 3 pm and was offered the handicap room. I told the desk clerk my daughter and I would be staying in it, but the removable clothes closet was too small, so I was stepping out and would return around 4 pm, the usual check-in time. When we came back around 4, two police officers were waiting. They said the hotel had banned me, by order of the general manager, Tadd R. Tibbets, whom I'd never met. The police report said the ban was because one of my family members had disrespected Tadd R. Tibbets. I called Marriott Bonvoy customer service and spoke with John, who said there was nothing he could do and told me to leave. This was a grave, unexpected event. I opened case # 744393801 but never got a resolution about the incident or General Manage Tadd R. Tibbets. I won't stay at this property again.
