The meals were the highlight. After a day on the slopes, the freshly made mushroom soup was exactly what I wanted, and everything came out piping hot in a cozy dining area. Breakfast was great too, with homemade-tasting bread and really good waffles. Everyone was incredibly kind. The room was clean and well stocked, and the fireplace made it charming. After a frustrating Airbnb experience, we were welcomed graciously by the owner and checked in easily. This place feels well above three stars and was worth every penny. I can’t wait to return.

Stone Hearth was a great fit for our family of four’s five-night winter vacation around New Year's. Vicky, the inn-keeper and owner, was kind, helpful, and accommodating. We enjoyed breakfast made fresh to order, and had books and board games to hand. When we weren’t skiing, snow-shoeing, sledding, or exploring nearby Vermont towns, we relaxed downstairs in the inviting common rooms: the game room/library, the sitting room by the pellet-stove, and the dining room with its scenic winter views. The inn was built in 1810, and we liked its history and character, including the original wide floor boards, beams, columns, and other architectural details. Vicky’s daughter and son-in-law run the bar & restaurant next door, where we had a relaxing Friday dinner with beer and wine. If you want a modern, chic hotel, this isn’t it. But for a cozy, family-owned and operated inn with character, conveniently placed for skiing, winter activities, and nearby towns, Stone Hearth Inn is a lovely choice. Thanks again for the stay, Vicky!

The “Sweet Heat” burger is a must. It’s my favorite burger in a long time. The food’s great whether you eat there or take it out, and their sweet treats are delicious too.

We only meant to stop for coffee on the way from Stowe to Manchester, but the place was so charming and beautiful that we stayed a bit. They make their own cakes, and we split a slice of carrot cake that was about seven inches tall. It was one of the best we’ve ever had. I’m sorry we didn’t buy more, since it was early in the day and we just wanted a quick bite. Everything else in the case looked phenomenal, too. The owners were exceptional, and their cooking skills were incredible. I can’t wait to go back for dinner or pick up a whole carrot cake for Thanksgiving. The rest of our day went wonderfully, and I hope to return as soon as possible. ❤️🍂🍁

The Brussels sprouts were magical, and the bread, soup, and burger were all spot on. We stopped for lunch and had the best meal out we’ve had in a very long time. Friendly staff and a wonderful atmosphere. Just come eat here, you’ll be glad you did!
