The other places we'd booked for activities kindly let us move our dates at no charge, but Northwoods Best Inn wouldn't. The night before our trip, my mom had a severe medical emergency and was admitted to the hospital. Since I make her medical decisions, I needed to be there. I called manager Michelle on the morning of our reservation, asking to shift the booking until my mom was stable rather than cancel it. She said we'd lose the money we'd paid and have to pay again. Then she went on a rude, abrasive rant, comparing my mother's hospitalization to a vacation she'd lost money on because of a flight delay. It might be worth reconsidering whether a family business should have family members handling customer service. They'd also billed us twice at first, though we caught it and got that sorted when canceling.

Staff were very nice in the contact I had with them, and the room was spotless. We booked room #105, a king room for one night, but the air conditioner left everything damp. It cooled the space with humid air, so sleeping in there felt like being in a tent. I hope they fix it. Breakfast was very limited, and the price felt high. I'm unsure whether we'd stay again.

The manager was extremely rude and unprofessional, and wouldn't discuss the billing issue we had. Breakfast was free, but barely maintained and amounted to a few pieces of fruit and some yogurt. The price is way too high for what's offered. It feels a little above a Super 8, yet they're charging Hilton prices without the amenities. There are plenty of better hotels around, so don't waste your time or money here.

My hearing aids cost $6,000, and they ended up on a wet pool floor after some unsupervised children took the towels we'd left with our things. The hot tub was broken, which we only realized after getting in. At the front desk, nobody helped us or would tell us the family's room number. The next morning, the girl at the desk ate pancakes and chatted with the cleaning staff behind the counter while three couples cleaned tables before sitting down to eat. When I tried to speak to the manager, she hung up on me. The staff and manager seemed not to care about guests at all. This is so wrong, and the hotel will hear from me again.
