Some rooms may be smaller than in larger hotels, but the value and hospitality make Chinatown Hotel a solid choice. It’s conveniently close to neighborhood attractions, shops, and restaurants, so exploring is easy. Rooms are generally clean, the staff are friendly, and the atmosphere is quiet. The accommodations are comfortable, the essential amenities are there, and the place is usually well maintained. It’s a charming, welcoming option for either a short visit or a longer stay.

I arrived late, hungry, a little drunk, and upset, and everything was already closed. The hospitality here really came through. After a good rest, I woke up to a beautiful day in Chinatown, which felt like a treat since I live in the boring suburbs. The place was cozy, and I really needed that sleep. Mr.Lee was very nice and helped me feel safe. I hadn’t expected to stay when I stumbled in, but I’m glad I did. The keys are pretty cool too. I’m looking forward to coming back when the weather’s more inviting and there are more sights to see and discover!

EDIT: I called about the refund and gave my card number over the phone. Instead of refunding me, they charged the deposit a second time. When I called back, they said I was lying and asked for proof. I sent it immediately, but now they say it isn’t enough. They also tried to tell my friend on her way out that I hadn’t paid for the room before I left. As of 11/13/25, they still hadn’t returned the money taken from my card, so I had to dispute the charges through my card company as fraudulent. The only saving grace is the location. The people running this place are thieves, and I’d stay away. Don’t give them your card information, and don’t leave until you’ve got your deposit back. If you absolutely have to stay, bring your own blankets and pillows, and put your belongings in tied trash bags in case of bed bugs. I’ve stayed in some disgusting hotels, but this one takes the cake. Makeup face prints lined the walls, with clumps of dust everywhere. It looked like a shitty college apartment half-cleaned by frat boys. I could maybe have overlooked the dirt if the staff hadn’t been so rude. My friend called from the airport about changing to another room but couldn’t hear well, so I said I’d handle it when I arrived. The front desk guy accused us of lying about not hearing and refusing to pay more, though neither was true. He snapped at me for being “too tired” to understand him. If I hadn’t had a show to get to in an hour, I’d have taken my things and left. Customer service would get -5 stars if I could. I’ve never been spoken to that way while trying to give a business my money. The hotel still hasn’t returned my deposit. If you only need somewhere to leave your things while you party, it might work, but don’t expect to be comfortable. Check my other reviews, I’m NOT a Karen.

The location is great, just a few minutes from the Metro station and 15 minutes from downtown. The hotel itself was a disaster. It smelled very bad as soon as we walked in, and the cleaners clearly weren’t doing a proper job. We found two cockroaches, one in the bathroom and one under the bed, and the shower was filthy with mold. With the windows open, loud air conditioner noises carried on the whole time. I’d give it zero if I could. It should be avoided.

There’s a shared kitchen with a fridge and microwave, plus tea bags and hot water if you want tea in the middle of the night. The bathroom is clean and roomy, with a shower but no bathtub. Rooms are clean too, though pretty bare: just a bed, side table, desk on one side with no chair, and an armchair opposite. No fridge or microwave in the room. There is a front desk, but it’s mostly for check-in and check-out. Chinatown Hotel in Chigago Chinatown feels more like a hostel than a regular hotel. All in all, it’s an affordable, good place to stay. 🙂👍 $$
