Hotel Lincoln

The beds were surprisingly comfortable, and I had an extraordinary time here. The hotel was clean and pleasant, with friendly, helpful staff. The rooftop bar had good food and amazing views, and the coffee shop served delicious drinks. Americano also has a nice bar and good food. Lincoln Park is right across the street, and the park and zoo were both great. There are lots of restaurants and coffee shops nearby, and getting around was easy. The views are beautiful, too. I’ll miss this place and will be back soon. Chicago is such an amazing, beautiful city!

The staff were extremely kind, and the location was good. Housekeeping were also very sweet and accommodating whenever I spoke with them. Still, some of my towels were old with frayed edges, which made me feel unclean, and I was really let down by the standard room. Its carpet looked old and dirty, the chairs were ragged, and it felt dusty and outdated. The website calls it “boutique,” but that was not my experience. The walls were paper thin, so I could hear conversations, TVs, and toilets flushing in both rooms next to mine. I asked the front desk if I could move to a renovated room, and the man kindly let me. It looked like a completely different hotel, and I was shocked by the difference. If they hadn’t moved me, I would’ve gone elsewhere. Make sure you know which kind of room you’re booking.

The location is amazing, and the rooftop is nice. The staff were kind and helpful, and seemed to be trying, but the building itself makes this a two-star stay for me. I can only see recommending it if you absolutely need to be in this location. Unless you find a rate around $100, need Lincoln Park, and are prepared for a Days Inn experience, I’d skip it and choose another Hyatt in or out of the city. It doesn’t make sense to charge the rates it often does, though there are almost no other Lincoln Park options. Our newly renovated suite still felt like a below-average Days Inn. I don’t think they gutted the place before reopening, and it shows: the walls are paper thin, there are hardly any outlets, and the noisy window air conditioner was bad. The elevators creak, the hallways are old, and while the renovated bathroom was nice, the room itself had no decor or thought behind its design. The “sofa bed” was about 5'8 by 5' and didn’t fit a person. A maintenance worker said the hotel hadn’t realized how small the beds were until after ordering them. I can’t imagine what an older room is like. The place needs to be redone. The suite upgrade helped, though the room was still bad. Globalist breakfast was just $20 at the coffee shop, the lowest rate I’ve seen, and that felt especially off given there’s a nice restaurant in the hotel.

The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. Ronald at the front desk was so kind and went out of his way to help us, which made our stay much better. The housekeeper on floor 8 was lovely and attentive, and got us whatever we needed. She spoke Spanish, so I couldn’t always communicate with her, but she was wonderful.
