Hyatt Place Chicago Midway Airport

The area feels pretty safe, and the hotel is in a small cluster of hotels near Midway. The best part for me is that parking costs nothing extra. We've stayed twice, and this is usually the first place I check when I'm visiting Chicago. Both check-ins were quick and the staff were super friendly. You need a room key for the elevator, which is nice for security, and the rooms are clean. On our first visit we used the Midway shuttle, which was convenient and trouble-free. The second time was during a winter storm, and the parking lot had been plowed by the time we left, making it easier to get out.

The thing I'd change is breakfast. If you eat pork, you'll probably like the menu, but if you don't, there are only a few choices. An option for a non-pork meat would help. At $11 for all you can eat, though, it's a good deal, especially in Chicago where meals often cost over $20. The indoor pool wasn't appealing: it isn't heated, the water looked a little cloudy, and hardly anyone was using it. This has been one of my favorite places to stay in the Chicago Bedford Midway area. Vanessa greeted me and was wonderful. I asked about a million questions, and she was patient, knowledgeable about food around the area, and asked what I liked before making recommendations. I didn't care for the view in my first room, and she switched me to another one without any trouble. Housekeeping was great too. I can't remember the younger Black woman's name, but she jumped in and got the room set up just how I wanted it. I'm a difficult customer and a tough cookie to crack, and this stay was simply above and beyond, from Vanessa to housekeeping to the comfort of the room.

After driving 19 hours from Florida, we were grateful to be offered an early check-in so we could get inside and rest. The welcome was very kind, and the staff's warmth and helpfulness left a lasting impression. We'll come back to this Hyatt when we're in Chicago again. The room was spacious and clean, the beds comfortable, and the water stayed hot. We tried the breakfast the next morning and were impressed by the spread, with something for everyone. Hyatt exceeded our expectations during our two-night stay.

My wife and I were stuck in Midway because of the winter storm and booked some time at the Hyatt while waiting for our rebooked flight. James Brown was a rockstar. He kept us entertained, stayed polite, and was handling just about everything on his own, from the front desk to chef and bartender duties. Hyatt is lucky to have him looking after guests. Give him a raise or, for God's sake, some help.
