Courtyard by Marriott Chicago at Medical District / UIC

I got in very late during a holiday visit, and they still found a way to accommodate me. The staff were kind and made sure I had what I needed. The hotel was clean and looked great, with a nice gym and a lovely breakfast spread. I also enjoyed the downtown Chicago view. Valet is $40 a night, or you can park across the street and walk over. I’ll probably stay here whenever I come back to visit.

The two women we spoke with at the front desk were both great, and we had a really good stay. The hotel is less than half a mile from the United Center, with a shuttle running there and back. Valet costs $40, which seems reasonable for parking this close to downtown. Since the hotel is beside a hospital, sirens are likely. We knew that going in, and it didn't bother us. I've heard plenty of sirens in downtown Chicago too.

The Bistro breakfast is a real bright spot. The flatbread, quesadilla, and frittata are fresh and tasty, and the care Santos and Minerva put into the experience comes through. Keep up the good job! For work, I found the room comfortable, especially the desk, and the staff were easy to deal with. The Medical District is quieter than the Loop while still being close to downtown. They handle valet parking on-site and run a shuttle within roughly 1.5 miles, which was handy for nearby hospitals and the university. There are meeting rooms for groups of about 25 to 80, plus a fitness room with the basics. I've stayed twice for business and would come back again.

The rooms were clean and the staff were friendly when we arrived. The location is decent, and the hotel was cheaper than other places nearby, but the stay was just okay for us. We skipped the $40 nightly parking and left the car at the hospital across the street for $20. I believe valet was $55. Traffic was so bad that we bought transit passes and left the car parked. Day passes were $5 per person and covered buses as well as the metro. Breakfast wasn't included, and there wasn't a microwave in the room. Along with the parking cost, that left me less than thrilled. I assume the lower room price is why breakfast costs extra and parking is $40 a day.
