Days Inn by Wyndham Chula Vista/San Diego

We left within 2-5 minutes of checking in. The room was so alarming that we didn't feel comfortable checking the bathroom or touching anything after lifting the sheets. The bed seemed infested with bugs, roaches were crawling around, and the bedding had visible dirt, dead bugs or feces, and footprints. Surfaces seemed excessively coated in bleach, while the furniture and bed were in extremely poor condition. Outside, the amount of loitering by homeless people and prostitutes made us uneasy about unloading the car or staying on the premises. This was unacceptable and doesn't match reasonable expectations for accommodations or how the property appears in online listings and reviews. I'm extremely dissatisfied and won't use Expedia or Days Inn again. I urge a thorough investigation into how this property is advertised and maintained, and expect a prompt, full refund. This is a formal complaint about my recent stay at Days Inn by Wyndham in Chula Vista.

Having my reservation cancelled less than a week before my wedding was very upsetting, and I won't book or stay here. I booked directly on the Days Inn site in early April 2026 for the family suite, for check-in May 20, 2026 and checkout May 22, 2026. I hadn't approved the cancellation email that arrived May 14, 2026. I called right away. The front desk gentleman said he wasn't sure and would call back in a few hours, but never did. I called again May 15, and the agent wasn't helpful and said he couldn't do anything, then gave me another number. The woman there was short, not empathetic, and offered no useful suggestions. She said the site had overbooked the suite. Their booking system needs fixing, and some employees may need better hospitality training.

We were in town a couple days for a concert at the North Island Amphitheatre. The location and price worked well for what we needed, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I felt safe in the neighborhood and my car was safe. The bed was clean and comfortable, which mattered most to me, and the room was cleaner than many motels I've stayed in. The floor was a little grimy, especially after coming from the pool with wet feet. The hot tub heater was broken, a bummer after two days of driving, and the hair dryer and chair in the room were broken too. It met our needs for the trip, and I'd stay again if I came back this way.

The price is right, and after a couple of stays I was given a free upgrade. Rooms are newly refurbished, clean, and furnished with quality pieces. They have plush towels and bottle dispensers for shampoo and such, and kitchens are available for a few dollars more. Staff are polite and helpful. Continental breakfast is included, and pets are allowed with a $20 deposit. I give it 5 -1/2 stars. Thanks, Days Inn, for all the enjoyable stays.
