El Primero Hotel

After nearly 72 hours of travel, including a 24-hour flight delay, I arrived close to midnight exhausted and stressed. My luggage hadn't arrived in time for my conference. The owner was kind and understanding from the moment I walked in. She offered clothes to borrow so I could attend meetings the next day and gave me extra toiletries. Her generosity turned what could have been a very stressful stay into a comforting one, and made all the difference. The family-run hotel is centrally located, just steps from the convention center, and excellent for events there. You can feel guests are cared for with heart. I'm deeply grateful and would absolutely stay again.

Karen is the best innkeeper I've met. Talking with her feels like chatting with a best friend, and she helped me in so many ways during my stay. I liked it enough to add two nights. Everything is spotless, and the location is safe, fun, quiet, with tons of restaurants and cute places within walking distance. I've traveled a lot for work, on the road over 60% of the year, and this is my favorite. If you're in the San Diego area and like a vintage vibe, stay here. There's off-street parking, excellent coffee, and a wonderful atmosphere. I'll stay every chance I get when I'm in the area.

Karen, the owner, personally made sure my visit was exceptional while I was visiting an ill family member. The hotel is beautiful and historic, and it's surrounded by a unique shopping area in Chula Vista.

I stayed at El Primero a couple of years ago and absolutely loved it. The family staff had a story to tell about refurbishing this bright spot during my time in San Diego and Chula Vista. The charm, service, vintage feel, great location, relaxing atmosphere, and outside patio made it stand out as the only place to stay. Recently I realized I might return to San Diego, and El Primero in Chula Vista was the first place I thought of. Karen, I'm coming back and look forward to seeing you!
