We moved in a few months ago, and I love living here. The place is always clean and has the feel of a hotel. Sofía and Jenny are so welcoming, always smiling and asking how your day is going. Scott and Keith are great too, and maintenance gets work orders done efficiently and without much of a wait. Moving here has been the best decision.
I've been here about a year and a half, and I love it. A special shout out to sofia at the front desk. She's attentive, kind, and always friendly, and she goes out of her way to help residents. She makes the desk feel welcoming, and every time I interact with her it's a positive experience. We're lucky to have her!
East walnut hills is a great place to be. It's walkable, with restaurants, coffee shops, grocery stores, and small businesses close by, and Mt Adams, downtown, Oakley, and Hyde park are nearby without the same bustle. I always felt safe, whatever the time, and the area seems to have room to grow. The garage was still a work in progress during my 18 months here. Management seemed to care, though, and was figuring things out. There were several break-ins, even though my car was fine. Cameras and more guardrails at openings people can climb through would help. Guest parking wasn't clear, but there was plenty of free street parking. My apartment in the A building was brand new, clean for the most part, and everything worked. I barely heard neighbors, except for a couple of groups by the fireplace late at night. If I weren't moving to another state, I'd have stayed. Management changed while I lived there, and things went from good to great. They were friendly and professional, including at move-out, and I never had an issue with them. Maintenance requests were handled quickly, within a day or two at most, and the work was skilled and well communicated. The amenities were pretty standard, fine as they are, though they could be better. The fitness room is small and could use another bench and machine, plus a Smith machine in place of the medicine ball area. The Les Mills bikes aren't connected to the internet and show an expired subscription. They don't display resistance or RPM, so the branding feels like it's just for show. Bikes with metrics for phone workouts would be better, and Peloton bikes would be ideal. The stair stepper wobbles and needs stabilizing. The package room wasn't terrible, but it could be improved. A building firepits could use a curfew because groups were loud there past midnight a few times. In winter, millipedes appeared in my fourth-floor unit now and then. It was gross, though nothing major, and something to keep in mind.
We come to this neighborhood regularly to be near family, and this was easily the best rental we've found. Our one-week stay at Woodburn Exchange through Mitten Housing was seamless. We had a 2B 2Ba with a washer and dryer, and the building amenities were outstanding. Traveling with two young kids can be a lot, but here it was easy to settle in and relax. The place felt safe and convenient, and during the day we could walk to everything on Woodburn. The kids loved the pool, and the mostly single residents in their 20s and 30s were courteous and respectful. We can't wait to book for our annual trip next year!
I moved in March 2025, and after only eight months the problems had become constant. The complex has had multiple car break-ins, with residents reporting at least four incidents. I also got charged a late fee even though I paid rent on time. I have email confirmation showing the payment was submitted before the due date, and gave the related documents to Chase. Its investigation team concluded there was a third-party processing error on the complex's end. The disputed amount was over $300. This has left me extremely frustrated and disappointed. My unit's humidity stayed around 70 percent even with the AC set to 67°F. High humidity means extra moisture in the air, which can lead to mold and poor indoor air quality. The AC should reduce humidity, not add to it, so I believe something is malfunctioning. There was visible black mold on air filters maintenance had left in the hallway. When I raised it, I was told it was “just dust.” I found that response unacceptable and concerning for basic maintenance and tenant safety. I asked to transfer units but was told I'd have to pay market rate, which I refused. After moving out, I tried setting the AC to 75°F and the humidity did finally drop, but I refuse to sleep in 75-degree heat. Since moving in, I've had several health problems: respiratory issues, bloodshot eyes, a sore throat every morning, and a rash that sent me to the ER. A maintenance worker blamed me for keeping the unit too cool at 67°F. Jenny, the property manager, said this had never happened before and I was the first person to live in the unit. That doesn't answer the issue. If the AC isn't working properly, who lived there first is irrelevant. The HVAC isn't working as it should. I was also told my pets were causing the musty, rusty smell that was making me sick, which is false. Pets don't raise humidity or create moisture in the air. There was visible water damage around my fire alarm too, which is unsanitary and hazardous. This place has been a nightmare. Please don't live here.
