Hilton Garden Inn Clarksville

The property, bar, restaurant, and room were all great. The shower really let the place down: I hit my head on the 1970s-style door, the pan was cracked and had been painted at some point, and water leaked through the ceiling from the shower above. Hopefully the renovations address it, because then this would be a great property.

The one good part of our stay was the night check-in gentleman, who quickly brought extra pillows and was kind and attentive. Everything else was a letdown. This place is badly run down, and calling it a “4-star hotel” feels like false advertising. The building looks neglected, not updated or maintained. There were “pardon our mess” signs, but no sign of actual renovation. Our room had an uneven floor, cracked foundations, and stained walls. The hallways looked less “industrial chic” than covered in black grime. It felt unsafe, especially with moisture seeming to be behind the uneven floor. The beds were old and felt unsafe too. My 6-year-old tripped on that uneven floor and scraped his chest on a bed corner. So that was great.

We booked this stop on the way home to Illinois because we had a young child and wanted a pool. The pool and hot tub were closed, which should have been posted on the website. Breakfast was cold, and the hall reeked of weed so strongly I felt high just walking through it. At check-in we were told the hotel was overbooked, and the front desk worker had to run around to find us an available room. The place feels run into the ground and needs new management.

The lobby looked quite nice and the towels were really soft, but behind that, this Hilton property was badly lacking. It felt outdated and smelled odd. There was black mold on the shower ceiling and the bottom of the shower was awful. The fitness room was like those in many hotels, except most of the machines didn't work. I called the front desk with a request and nobody answered. Renovations were supposedly happening, but I couldn't tell where.
