Days Inn Clayton

The rooms were clean and updated, and the king bed was very nice. I was visiting Clayton and had a great stay, except for the bedside lamps. Their blue-white light is much too bright and harsh when you’re getting ready to sleep. They’d be better with a warmer, softer glow.

I wouldn’t recommend it. I arrived late hoping to get some sleep, paid $93, and then saw online rates of $65 to $75. Even that seems too high. A semi woke me at 6 a.m., and several more drove past over the next hour. There’s no insulation to keep the outside noise out, so it wasn’t a restful night. The room photos online looked fake to me, and I think that’s false advertising.

The staff were really nice, and the beds were soft and comfortable. The coffee wasn’t very good, and with the highway right there, it gets pretty loud.

I had to ring the bell and then call a phone number just to get someone at the front desk for check-in. The clerk was rude and gave me a filthy room. The floor was dirty, and there was pee on the toilet seat. I wouldn’t let my dog sleep there. I hope the city investigates this place. I left and ended up at the Bridge Creek Inn around the corner, thankfully.
