Royal Inn

After visiting family in Ohio, my husband and I were driving back home to Alabama on a very rainy day. We're both in our 70s and on a fixed income, so we started looking for somewhere to get a good night's rest. The hotel coupons we had still seemed expensive. One said $70.00 or less, but at check-in the total went over $100.00 with taxes and other charges, even with a senior discount. We found this hotel while driving around and decided to look. The room was clean and very nice, nothing special, but all we needed was a clean bed and bathroom, and we got both. The staff were great and very friendly, and they gave us bottled water. The room was quiet and dark, which my husband really likes, and we enjoyed our stay. The inside lock was broken, though the door did lock from outside. It's in a good spot near I-75 south. We'd definitely stay again and tell others about it. Thank you for a good night's rest.

The room was clean and comfortable for what I paid, and the staff were really nice. The bed squeaked a bit, but it wasn't a big deal. I was pleasantly surprised and would definitely stay again. A good spot if you need a decent night's sleep on the road.

I refused to stay in the room and asked for a refund, but they wouldn't give me one, even though I hadn't moved in. It was made to look clean, but it smelled moldy and felt dirty and generally unclean. I got upset after pushing for the refund. I did slam the door and damage the lock, which was my fault, and then they threw me out, though I wasn't going to sleep there anyway. Before that, they'd asked me to remove an earlier review, and I did, trying to be decent. But I've never been asked to take down a review anywhere else, and I can't feel right about leaving out what happened at the Royal Inn. This is the only place I've ever felt compelled to review, and I'm not very internet savvy. I ended up across the way at the Classic Suites, where the rooms were clean. Take this as my opinion, but I wouldn't book the Royal Inn.

The bed was so comfortable, and it was very quiet. My wife and I were really pleased with our room. The people were kind, and it was very clean. We'd stay again and highly recommend it.
