We left early the next morning and went to another hotel to shower and get dressed. The room was nothing like the website and the stay was horrible. In another room booked by my family, a window had been held together with tape. The cleaner and building manager may have been trying their best, but the inn needs renovation to offer even basic comfort for the high price. There were problems all over our room. The shower only ran from the bottom, and the head had rusty green stains. The bathtub curtain and floor were stained yellow, as was the toilet seat, and the bowl had brown stains. The bed smelled moldy and the blanket smelled a little like pee. There was no fan or ventilation, and the toilet and bathroom were right beside a bed. The door wouldn't stay closed, so we couldn't get privacy. The room bolt didn't work either. I told the concierge about the bolt. He said he'd move us to a room being cleaned, but never followed up. When I asked again close to midnight, he said someone else had taken it. I ended up blocking the door with an ironing board and my box so I could feel safe enough to sleep. My family tried opening windows in one of their rooms to air it out, then found the window was held together with tape. There was no way we were staying, so we went somewhere else in the morning.

The rooms are clean, and the customer service has impressed me. Katelyn at the front desk is always on point, kind, courteous, and calm. If I had a business, I'd hire her. Tina was just as helpful: when I had trouble opening my room door, she came right over to help. Thank you so much 💓

The rooms were disgusting, with mold, holes in the walls, broken things, and an alcohol smell. The staff were rude, and the manager was awful. Save yourself the frustration and stay somewhere else. I complained to the front desk as soon as I arrived and said I wouldn't be staying. I asked to speak with management, but they wouldn't let me or give me an email address. One manager was called and said I'd get a refund the next day; I was told the other was at a conference. Nothing came through. After calling daily for a week, I finally got the manager on the phone, and they claimed I hadn't said anything or complained. Absolutely gross.

Most of the staff were warm and helpful. A housekeeper who also stocked breakfast went out of her way to make us feel welcome. Another woman at the desk brought extra towels to our room even though she had to go downstairs to get them. The coffee was better than anything else I found during our stay, and the small continental breakfast was pretty good. Parking was easy. The third and final day passed without incident, and the lower price did offset some of the inconveniences. The main problem was the noise from a guest in the room next to ours on the second night. After midnight I woke to him shouting profanity and pounding hard on his desk or the wall. Earlier, a staff member had knocked on a different room about a noise complaint. That room had been playing guitars loudly, which I hadn't heard, so it turned out both rooms were making noise. The man beside us kept yelling at his partner. I was alarmed with my young son there and called the office. The same staff member answered, but as far as I know did nothing about my complaint. I would have heard a knock through those thin walls. The man didn't make any further noise that I noticed, but the incident made me regret choosing Red Roof Inn. I didn't want my son exposed to what sounded like a serious risk of physical violence. I'd also heard similar yelling in the parking lot earlier that evening, possibly from the same man or possibly another guest. I know a hotel can't predict whether someone will turn violent, but I fault the night staff for not warning him after my call. The shared-area carpet was grotesquely dirty when we arrived, though I noticed it less once I got used to the place. The AC was noisy, and the fridge was so loud my son asked to unplug it so he could sleep. I agreed, then had to clean up water on the floor in the middle of the night after melted ice drained out. The light above the sink was excessive too, so I unscrewed four of the five bulbs. There was enough lighting to cause a mild sunburn. This is an extreme budget option, and you may have neighbors who aren't of the highest character. The staff get a thumbs-up, with the caveat that they didn't address my noise complaint. Exercise caution, but don't rule it out.
