Hampton Inn & Suites Clinton

Room 331 was nearly perfect, and we’d definitely stay again if we’re in the area. The bathroom sink was outside the bathroom, though, so if someone got ready early, the light shone right into the eyes of whoever was still in bed. We loved Amy at check-in and Ms. Melody, who both went out of their way to help us. Even with two basketball teams and a science club at the hotel, you couldn’t tell from the noise, though breakfast got a little crowded. We came for a weekend getaway and this was one of the best Hampton's I’ve stayed at in a while.

The Clinton SC Hampton Inn is my regular place when I travel through the area. Two weekends ago, I was there for my 50th Birthday, and Amber was at the desk when we noticed the lobby popcorn was gone late one night. She hadn’t made popcorn before, but said she’d see what she could do. I told her we were celebrating my BD and that it would make my day. About 20 minutes after we went back to our rooms, Amber called us to the lobby. She’d made a batch of popcorn and even put up a happy birthday sign for me. Her kindness blew me away. That’s what great customer service looks like.

I was only calling with what seemed like a simple question, but I spent about 6-7 minutes on hold and then got a response from Ivy that felt much less courteous than a customer service representative should be. I know the property is being renovated, but that doesn't excuse unprofessional service. Staff should still be able to give accurate information about room availability. I hope management addresses this so callers and future guests are treated with basic respect.

Breakfast started at 6am, even on the weekend, which worked well for me. My room was clean, the bathroom was nice, and the mini-fridge worked. They were also accommodating when I asked to switch room types after arriving. I only wish there'd been a couple of electric car chargers, though I know that's a big ask and don't expect this hotel to be the town's only charging spot. Great stay, and I'll probably be back next year.
