The woman who checked us in was nice, and the hot tub was good. I was disappointed because this place used to be my go-to four years ago. Our bed and pillows were comfortable, but the room needed a serious clean: the tub needed a scrub and fresh paint, the lamp shades had dirty fingerprints, there was chewed gum in a corner, and the baby play pin had some kind of slop on its side walls. It looked like cleaning had been careless. We mainly came so the boys could swim since it was freezing outside, but the pool felt just as cold as being outdoors. The AC only blows at 55 degrees, and the bathroom bulb was out. There was also a bullet hole in the window glass, which wasn't a nice thing for the kids to see. On the second floor, it felt like being in a college dorm after 2, and I think a fight had just happened in the hallway. That's not really the hotel's fault, but it made us uneasy, and I wasn't sure about going to breakfast with all that going on. The price probably influences the kind of company you get around you. Please give room 222 a thorough clean.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the room's layout and features suited this class of hotel. I was glad there was a pool and a small gym, though I couldn't find any filtered water. The fragrance in the building was the biggest problem. Walking into the lobby, I was hit by a strong, synthetic air freshener scent that overwhelmed the lobbies and hallways. I had to hold my breath in the corridors, and later, even outside, I could still taste it on my tongue. It felt like it was triggering an allergic reaction. The smell wasn't in the room, where there was instead a musty odor, but that was better and I could use the fan to bring in fresh air. If the fragrance had been in the room, I would've asked for a refund. The hotel should get rid of odors instead of covering them with a cheap, artificial lemon scent. A moderate clean smell is fine when it comes from actual cleaning, but the air shouldn't noticeably smell musty or chemical.

I was pleasantly surprised by the space, and my two cats had plenty of room. There was no under the bed, which was great. The hotel smelled really relaxing, and the breakfast waffles were my favorite. A good choice if you're after a reasonably priced, pet-friendly place that smells nice.

The staff were really nice, but the rooms felt dated. The first one had a TV and fridge that didn’t work, so I switched rooms. The second smelled strongly of recent cigarette smoke, and there was a sewing needle stuck in the couch. It didn’t feel clean.
