Sheraton Gateway Atlanta Airport

The 24-hour shuttle runs every twenty minutes, which makes this usable for an airport overnight. Beyond that, it felt like a basic Sheraton with nothing special about it. The lobby looked okay, but the rest of the place needed updating and paint. The ninth floor had a strange playdough-like smell, and my room wasn’t clean, with old food-looking gunk on the door. The desk person was rude when I asked for a replacement key because the first one didn’t work, and apparently that was my fault. Service at the bar and restaurant was mediocre, and the food was terrible. I wouldn’t want to stay longer.

Being near the airport was convenient for my early flight, and the shuttle runs every twenty minutes, which I appreciated. The room was okay, and the bed was very comfortable. The carpet made the hotel feel old and could use replacing, though the counters looked recently upgraded. Check-in was slow: I arrived later in the evening and waited about 30 minutes for my room, with just one guest ahead of me. All in all, an okay stay.

My whole traveling party, all five others, had the same complaints. The AC didn’t cool the room well, and the hotel didn’t have fans to offer. The pillows were so soft they flattened down to almost nothing. It might be nice if you didn’t sleep in the room and could tolerate the heat, even in December with the AC blasting.

The rooms were spacious and very clean, and the staff were helpful and friendly, a real credit to the Sheraton brand. I liked the hotel despite its older decor, which isn’t what I’m used to. I stayed one night before flying out the next morning and would come back.
