La Quinta Inn & Suites College Station South

The person who greeted us was about the only good part. The elevators didn’t work, so we got stuck on the fourth floor and had to use the stairs. In the room, the A/C wouldn’t stay on, and neither would the fan, despite that setting being available. The dresser drawers kept sliding open. There seem to be structural problems too: the bathroom door wouldn’t stay open, and the bathtub and floor tiles had large cracks. Very disappointing. I’d really like a refund.

We came for Santa’s Wonderland and spent the night here. The kids loved the heated indoor pool, and it gave them a chance to burn off energy while we waited for our DoorDash. The room was ready, clean and great, with comfortable beds. I slept through the night, which almost never happens, and didn’t hear cars or other guests. The front desk woman was welcoming and helpful, and the breakfast staff member was just as friendly. Breakfast was delicious. Such a good stay.

This wasn’t the usual LaQuinta stay we’ve had elsewhere. The room needed better upkeep, especially the bathroom. The A/C was set to 73 when we arrived, so we lowered it to 65 later, but it only cooled the room by two degrees all night and blew air that was just somewhat cold.

At check-in they handed me a key to a room that was occupied. I saw someone’s bags inside and got my family out quickly, then reported it. They assigned another room and asked me to go check whether that one was occupied too. It was empty, thankfully, but they couldn’t assure me that nobody would mistakenly enter our room. The next day the desk clerk said we’d already checked out. I corrected her, and it turned out another family was listed under our room and we weren’t on the room roster at all. We also suspected someone had entered our room because the beds were undone after our evening stroll. When I asked to speak with a manager, the front desk refused. This was a horrible, unsafe experience.
