Rodeway Inn

They gave me a room that was obviously used for smoking. There were no sheets, crumbs everywhere, and the mattress was yellowing. I had my baby with me, but they didn’t seem to care, and then someone tried to tell me it was a good room. I left as soon as I got my deposit back. Spend a few extra dollars for somewhere better.

Most of the rooms and facilities are under construction, and this place feels like a safety risk. We booked a non-smoking room, but it smelled like smoke. Do not stay here.

After my first review, financial limits brought me back a couple of times. Since then, the hotel lobby apparently caught fire, and the “front desk” is now in Room 106. The property is still run down, half the hotel is abandoned, and the new staff are overbearing and rude. Crime infests this hotel. The first time, I booked the La Quinta but somehow ended up at a Rodeway Inn, which was confusing. The other half of the building seemed abandoned, though La Quinta logos were still all over it. The rooms were dark and bare, and I could hear everything through the walls. I didn’t feel particularly safe. The building is decrepit and old, and a smoke alarm was broken and beeping. The whole place felt eerie. Housekeeping came into my room twice without knocking, which made me uncomfortable. The front desk staff I dealt with were respectful and let us check out late after we accidentally slept in. There was no free breakfast as advertised. I’d like a refund, but won’t bother. There could be bedbugs, though I can’t say for sure. The only real amenities were the pool and one working vending machine. The pool did look clean, and lots of shops and restaurants are within walking distance. A&M University is just minutes away, and you can walk there if you don’t mind the distance. It’s the cheapest hotel I’ve seen in B/CS, but I won’t stay again. The Red Roof Inn is usually about the same price, and I most likely won’t return.

I chose this room because it was the cheapest I could find, but seeing the outside made me worry about that decision. The stay itself was great: the room was clean, the bed was the softest I’ve ever slept on, and it was super quiet. It needs a few touchups, and the TV quit working late in the evening, as if I’d used up all my TV time. Still, I have no complaints.
