Quality Inn & Suites Colorado City TX

The place was disgusting. There were dead roaches on the lobby floor, dirt and mud in the hallways, and old shredded towels with brown mystery stains. The washcloths were an odd brown color, and when I asked for another towel, the one I got was torn and worn out too. They said there were no more washcloths, so I had to find one myself to shower. The carpet had thorns that stabbed my feet. I asked for the manager, but they weren’t there. The person at the counter said they were a supervisor and would offer a refund, but it turned out they lied and were a maintenance employee, not a supervisor. I still haven’t spoken to the manager, and now they say they’re no longer La Quinta. Don’t ever stay here.

We were on the fourth floor, and the room was quiet, clean, spacious, and had a comfortable bed. The only trouble came when we took our dog outside. There were goat heads, or thorns, everywhere, and they hurt both our dog and us when we tried to pull them out. We had to use tweezers to get them out of our shoes so they wouldn’t end up on the room carpet. If you’re bringing a pet, watch out for them. Apart from that, it was a very pleasant stay.

The AC worked great, and the place felt safe enough. It’s also handy for I-20. But the night I stayed, there was no hot water, elevator, or WiFi. The bed and pillows were lousy, and they only provided two sheets, so bring extra bedding if you want to be comfortable. The latch for the secondary lock was broken, too. The stairwell smelled like urine, and the outside doors wouldn’t open with a keycard, so I had to go through the lobby. I don’t like leaving bad reviews, but this one felt necessary.

Caution, this isn’t a La Quinta anymore. It’s a Quality Inn by Choice Hotels, and the rate was $25 above what La Quinta’s site showed. That site still takes reservations for this place, but the Quality Inn staff wouldn’t accept that as payment. They said they’ve been reporting the issue, but it hasn’t been fixed. I can’t really rate the stay yet because I still haven’t been checked in. The clerk said the new computer system is having problems, or she may be struggling with it. She also said they still take dogs for an extra fee.
