The Academy Hotel Colorado Springs

The staff were nice, but that was about the only positive. The building is old and run down, and the outside needs paint and the academy sign needs fixing. The photos are misleading. We tried to make the best of it, but breakfast changed my mind: every plate they said was clean had wet cheese or other food stuck to it. They had to take the whole batch back to be washed, and we were so grossed out that we ate at a restaurant that day and every day after. There's also a pile of trash outside across from the room, apparently where bags from rooms are collected. Please renovate and wash the dishes properly so guests don't get sick. I wouldn't stay here; find somewhere else.

The rooms were spacious, with nice bathrooms and really comfortable beds. I slept better than I have in weeks. The hotel was peaceful and quiet, even in the pet-friendly section, and there's a lovely restaurant in the building. Great hotel, with an amazing breakfast.

I stayed here for business last year and was glad to return. The place feels warm and welcoming, and I enjoyed having a restaurant and a generous hot breakfast in the morning. My room's WiFi was enormously better this time. It seems they've invested in both technology and decor. I'll stay here on my next trip.

It's an older hotel, but our room was updated and very clean, and the whole property felt extremely clean. The price was unbelievably good. Breakfast was complimentary, with chef-made eggs and omelets plus plenty of other buffet food. We enjoyed the pool, free ping pong, and foosball. The front desk service was A+, and she told us a bit about the hotel's history and how it's family-owned and independent. She spoke so highly of the owners that they must treat employees well. Another guest said it's the best hotel in town and has been staying here for 20 years. We found the staff wonderful and always smiling. Highly recommend.
