I spend about $16,000 a year staying in hotels around the country, and this Holiday Inn has topped even my high expectations. The owners and staff made the stay so comfortable and enjoyable that I’m almost sad to head home. Everyone was hospitable, from the front desk at check-in to the helpful cleaning staff who checked each day whether I needed anything. Free laundry is available, and there’s free hot breakfast every morning, weekdays and weekends. Calling it anything less than a five-star hotel would be dishonest. Thank you to the owners and all the staff at Holiday Inn Express Columbia City, Indiana. Kind regards, Christopher and Pamela Conwell

Got a single king room. Very clean and nice, with a comfortable bed, a sofa, and a table with a lift-up top. The pillowcases are embroidered to show which pillows are soft and which are firm. There’s a Keurig with Green Mountain Nantucket blend coffee. The road was a little noisy from my room, and the sheer window shade was torn and broken. You can see it’s there to cover the blackout shade behind it.
4/10
The bed was way too soft, and cleanliness seemed below par. When I opened the blinds, I found about 20 different bugs. There was also something disgusting on the shower curtain.
8/10
I stayed here while training for swift. The rooms were clean, and the pool was nice. When boredom hit, the staff were fun to sit and chat with. It’s a good hotel.
2/10
Being close to the airport was the only good thing. There was mold in the bathroom, the mattress and pillows were too soft, and although there were ice makers on every floor, only the one on the first floor worked.
