The breakfast was the standout here. There was a big spread with eggs, thick bacon, hash browns, pastries, and a burrito station with cheese and salsa. It was better than some M Lounge breakfasts I’ve had in larger cities, though I’m not sure whether that menu is offered every day or only on Saturdays. Staff were friendly, including the maintenance man we met in the lobby. We picked this place because it was the cheapest Marriott Bonvoy-earning room in Columbia and I was close to requalifying for elite status. We were in town overnight for a comedy show. It’s tucked into a dead-end cul-de-sac with a Hooters and a sister Residence Inn, near a Burger King, gas station mini-mart, Taco Bell, Golden Corral, and White Castle. The parking lot was nearly empty at 8 p.m., and a sign said one elevator was out because of low occupancy, which gave me pause. Still, it felt safe inside and out, and the interior was nice with Mizzou decorations. Room 329 had a fridge and microwave, lots of Mizzou wall decor, and a spacious, clean bathroom with a nice shower. But it smelled musty, the wallpaper was bubbling and peeling, there were unexplained holes in the walls, and the furniture was badly scratched and worn. There weren’t enough USB chargers, and the room felt more like a motel, maybe a Motel 6. Good value and a good breakfast, though.
The rooms were clean and looked well cared for. Everything worked, the bed linens were good, and I had no issues there. Breakfast was extensive, though a few eggs looked oddly colored, so I skipped them. Management checked in with me about things and asked for feedback, which I appreciated and which raised my score. The hotel sits a little out of the way, but it’s about a minute from the interstate and close to plenty of food options and a QT. It’s set behind a wooded ditch with lots of foliage, so it looks nice but isn’t very visible from the road. That seclusion gave me some safety concerns. Even so, I had a great stay and would come back to this Columbia option.
Breakfast was delicious, and the service was friendly throughout. Check-in and check-out were both very easy, and the GM made a considerate gesture during the renovations, giving guests goodie bags with treats, sleeping masks, and ear plugs in case there was noise. The work didn’t bother us or affect our stay, and all the amenities were available. We stopped here during a road trip and had a quiet, wonderful stay. We hope to come back!
During a work stay in March 2025, the cover on my room’s A/C unit fell off when I got back from work. I looked at it and saw duct tape holding it together, took a picture, and went to the desk. The guy moved me to another room, but it hadn’t been cleaned and its A/C was also taped together. He moved me again, and that room had dog feces on the floor. I went back downstairs and asked him to inspect the next room himself and call my current room when it was ready. The call never came because the phone in my room didn’t work. I went down to the desk, and he said, “OH yes, I have the room ready.” Couldn’t he have stopped by to tell me? I don’t plan to return to Columbia, MO, but I definitely wouldn’t stay at this hotel again. I think the photos are on a backup hard drive, and if I find them I’ll update this review with them.
Our two-queen room had a couch and TV in one area, with a separate bedroom area and another TV. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and we got a goodie bag when we checked in. Breakfast was great, with bacon, regular eggs, and even oat milk. A nice place for a one-night stay.
