Motel 6 West Columbia, SC - Airport

The bathroom was filthy, with hair across the floor and buildup around the toilet. Our first room’s heater didn’t work. A staff member came in, banged on the unit a few times, said she’d fix it, then never came back. We got moved, but the tub in the next room had no hot water. Customer service was rude and wouldn’t accommodate us. When we asked for a refund because of the problems, they said they don’t give refunds. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

They don’t tell you before check-in that there’s a $100 deposit. Both bed frames were broken, and so was the desk. The rooms need a thorough cleaning from top to bottom. There are people living in rooms with cats, and the cat pee smell is so strong it’ll knock you down. I wouldn’t recommend this place at all. I wouldn’t even give it one star, but the form makes you pick at least one.

There’s a $100 deposit for a room with hardly anything in it. All I found was a tiny bar of soap. No coffee maker, iron or ironing board, hair dryer, or wall decor. The little computer desk had no chair, and its lamp didn’t work, so getting work done or checking email would mean making do. I’d bring pillows, blankets, and cleaning supplies. I gave the room a once-over myself after checking in. The bathroom had black mold and a big hole behind the toilet, and the furniture was worn out. The room smelled strongly of dog shit. The whole place felt pretty low class, and basically like an “Upscale Homeless Camp.” I wouldn’t leave anything valuable in the room. Some of the “less fortunate guest” (housekeeping) who call this place “home” may come in while you’re out, supposedly to bring two more dingy towels and another bar of soap. It’s bare bones, and you may have to clean, kill roaches, change your own lightbulbs, and bring your own gear. Could work for a night if you’re okay with that, but for a safe and pleasant stay, I’d look elsewhere. Definitely a “Shitty Deal😂

Our room had been given away. They said they’d overbooked because of cancellations, which I didn’t believe. The rooms we saw had dead roaches and looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in a month. The front desk was no help, and calling customer service only got more confusing. They couldn’t help without an itinerary number, which wasn’t anywhere on our reservation. I know it’s a cheap motel, but the advertised $53 came to almost $180 after all the extras. Honestly, go to the Hilton. It’s only $40 more and it’s perfect.
